Erik Friesen is an MD/PhD student at the University of Toronto and a PhD candidate at the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation within the Dalla Lana School of Public Health. He completed an HBSc in neuroscience at the University of Toronto (’16) followed by an MSc thesis focused on the molecular biology of neurodegenerative disease through the Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathobiology, University of Toronto (’18). His doctoral research in clinical epidemiology focuses on identifying geographic disparities in substance use and substance-related harms in Ontario and understanding the ways in which these disparities can be addressed through health policy.
